Amela Baksic has worked extensively as a costume designer in Film, Television and Theatre. Recent film work includes: STANE/ MIU MIU WOMEN’S TALES, which premired at Venice Film Festival 23; MURINA, Cannes Film Festival Caméra d’Or winner; 2022 Gotham Award Winner and nominated for three 2023 Independent Spirit Awards; SHIRLEY (2020 Sundance Film Festival US Dramatic Special Jury Award Winner), directed by Josephine Decker, starring Elisabeth Moss and Michael Stuhlbarg; A KID LIKE JAKE (2018 Sundance premiere, starring Jim Parsons, Claire Danes and Octavia Spencer), MY DAYS OF MERCY (TIFF 2017 premiere), starring Elliot Page and Kate Mara; BARRY (Netflix/ Black Bear Pictures/ TIFF 2016 premiere); WEINER-DOG directed by Todd Solondz (Annapurna Pictures/Killer Films/Amazon/ 2016 Sundance Film Festival premiere); THE RUNNER, starring Nicolas Cage, Sarah Paulson, and Peter Fonda; TUMBLEDOWN, starring Jason Sudeikis and Rebecca Hall; and THE FIRST PURGE from Blumhouse/Universal. Her films have premiered at major film festivals, notably: Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival (HIGHER GROUND, directed by, and starring Vera Farmiga) Tribeca Film Festival (BEWARE THE GONZO, DEEP POWDER, TUMBLEDOWN), SXSW, TIFF, VENICE FILM FESTIVAL, BERLINALE, and many others.

In Television she has designed costumes for upcoming season of HOTEL PORTOFINO (PBS), critically acclaimed DARE ME (USA/UCP) created by Megan Abbott and Gina Fattore; two seasons of BULL (CBS) and UNFORGETTABLE (CBS). Her extensive experiences over many seasons as Associate and/or Assistant Costume Designer in television include: THE GOOD WIFE, KINGS, FRINGE, CONVICTION, and NEW AMSTERDAM.

Highlights of her theatre career are: Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at the Stratford Festival of Canada; Shakespeare’s R&J in London’s West End, and in Japan; and numerous productions in major off-Broadway theatres, and regional theatres across the country.

Amela Baksic was the recipient of the prestigious Theater Arts Design Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment of The Arts. She holds M.F.A. in costume design from Brandeis University. Amela is a dual US/ Croatian citizen and works both in US and Europe.
